Specialized Care Coordinator, Audiology - UI Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic (Part-Time)

The UI Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic, housed in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, is seeking an experienced audiologist to provide direct patient care and build the tinnitus clinical service area. This is a part-time (50%) one-year specified term position with potential for extension past the initial year based on funding and clinic needs. The position is fully on-site in the new Health Sciences Academic Building.

This position not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the audiology clinic including to tinnitus patients.
  • Supervise second- and third-year AuD students as an audiologist preceptor.
  • Assist with clinical operations related to audiology services, including equipment oversight, documentation standards, and communication regarding patient care needs and program priorities.

Education Required

  • Clinical doctorate in audiology (AuD) or master’s degree in audiology from an accredited program.

Required Qualifications

  • Two years of experience as an audiologist or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A).
  • Audiologist License in the State of Iowa, or qualified to obtain an Audiologist License as soon as possible after beginning the position.
  • Experience in diagnostic testing and hearing aid selection, fitting, and follow-up care.
  • Experience with or desire to serve tinnitus patients.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Leniere, ABR testing, cochlear implants, equipment maintenance, maintaining inventories of loner and consignment hearing aids, and/or supervision of students.
