The University of Iowa, Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP) seeks a motivated, organized and service-oriented professional to assume a key grant reviewer and research administrator role.  Responsibilities include performing detailed review and submission of complex grant applications to various funding agencies; meeting sponsor deadlines; and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and University policies and procedures.  Candidates should have prior experience in research administration.  Experience in proposal development or research will be useful.  The ideal candidate will exert independent judgment in decision-making and be accustomed to applying critical thinking skills in a fast-paced, transactional environment.  The successful candidate will support research and scholarly activity by reviewing and administering externally funded proposals and agreements and assuring ethical and regulatory compliance on behalf of the University.

About Pay and Compensation:
Pay Grade:  4A 

Qualifications:

Education or Equivalency Required:
A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Required Qualifications:

·         Demonstrate considerable, typically 3-5 years, research administration experience.

·         Demonstrate 1-3 years of grant proposal review experience.

·         Demonstrate working level proficiency with computer software applications; e.g. able to perform first-level problem resolution before seeking help elsewhere.

·         Demonstrate excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

·         Demonstrate knowledge of current state and federal sponsored research regulations as they relate to research administration and higher education institutions.

·         Ability to solve problems and work under pressure in a high-volume deadline driven environment.

·         Demonstrate independent judgment and critical thinking skills.

·         Ability to work within a team and alone or with limited guidance, as appropriate.

Desirable Qualifications:

·         Working knowledge of higher education policies, procedures and regulations related to research administration.

·         Experience working with the University of Iowa Research Information System (UIRIS).

·         Experience in creating and submitting grant proposals through E-Systems (e.g., Cayuse, NIH eRA Commons, Research.gov, grants.gov).

·         Ability to work remotely for sustained periods of time.

This position is eligible for hybrid or remote work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment.
