Education Requirement:

  • An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.

Experience Requirement:

  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, professional health care staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal communications/interactions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to effectively manage critical patient population within highly functioning team.
  • Must take On-Call assignment (arrival at UI Hospitals & Clinics within 20 minutes required).

Certification/Licensure Requirement:

  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required by start date.
  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required start date.
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by start date.
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification desired.

Desired Qualifications:

  • One (1) year Adult Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Telemetry, ER and/or ICU RN experience; or completion of cardiovascular services, ER or ICU internship (within last 12 months) desired.
  • Three (3) years of Adult Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience (within last 12 months) highly desired.
  • If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program desired.
  • EKG monitor interpretation, recognition of pressure waveforms, knowledge of sterile techniques and comprehensive knowledge of the cardiovascular system desired.
  • Previous EPIC experience desired.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures desired.
