Staff Nurse - Employee Health Clinic
The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a 90% Staff Nurse to join the University Employee Health Clinic.
The Employee Health Nurse promotes and maintains employee health and safety through comprehensive occupational and employee health services. This role supports the management of employee health programs including new‑hire health screenings and onboarding, immunizations, exposure management and contact tracing, bloodborne pathogen and needlestick call line response, and occupational health surveillance testing, such as Audiometry and Spirometry.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply scientific, behavioral, and humanistic principles to clinical practice.
- Adhere to departmental standards, practice guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment and follow universal precautions.
- Implement emergency care procedures as needed.
- Utilize the nursing process to deliver evidence‑based services.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CDC, and organizational policies.
- Review medical histories, immunization records, and occupational risk assessments.
- Provide education and counseling related to immunizations, including indications, contraindications, and adverse reactions.
- Perform and document respirator mask fits, medical clearances, and fit testing in accordance with OSHA respiratory protection standards; provide education on proper respirator use, limitations, and maintenance.
- Conduct exposure assessments and contact tracing for work-related communicable disease exposures.
- Manage the bloodborne pathogen and needlestick call line, providing triage, counseling, testing coordination, and follow‑up care.

Education Information
- An Associate’s degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, or Master’s degree in Nursing (MNHP or MSN) is required.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
