Education
- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
Required Qualifications
- Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
- General computer skills are required.
- Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association
- Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
- Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
1-3 years of general nursing experience
1-2 years of pediatric or family medicine nursing experience
Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
- Previous experience successfully working autonomously.
The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is crucial; Float nurses must be comfortable working in various departments and clinics such as primary care and specialty services.
Desirable Qualifications
- If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
- Familiarity with UI Health Care and ambulatory clinic workflows
- Previous experience with triage phone calls in outlook
- Previous experience with Epic messages/phone calls/results/fax inbox
- Previous experience with prior authorizations
- Assist with nurse visits during downtime
Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience
