Staff Nurse - Surgical & Trauma Care Unit (3RC) - 90% Day Shifts

The Surgical & Trauma Care Unit believes it is our responsibility to provide patient-centered care that enables patients and their families to cope with the physiological and psychological aspects of their illness or injury. OUR PATIENT POPULATION
Trauma & Emergency Surgical Conditions:
Traumatic injuries sustained from events such as motor vehicle accidents and falls
Multi-system traumatic injuries
Acute abdominal emergencies (bowel obstruction, perforation, infection)
Complex wound management and surgical drains
Ostomy creation and management
Fistula treatment
Hernia repair
Urologic Surgery:
Post-operative urological procedures
Urologic oncology and reconstructive surgeries
Complex catheter and urinary diversion management
Orthopedic Surgery:
Reconstructive joint surgery (hip, knee, shoulder)
Spine surgery
Percent of Time: 90%, 36 hours per week
Schedule: Day shifts, weekend and holiday rotations as assigned
Location: Regular salaried position located in Iowa City, Iowa
Salary: $61,183 minimum at 100% effort to commensurate *This does not include differentials. Salary will vary based on years of experience and percent of effort.*

Pay Differentials: Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Premium pay for additional shifts greater than 4 hours. Inpatient differentials of up to $5,000 per year based on percent time

Education Required:
- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
Experience Required:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
General computer skills are required, including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel
Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
Desirable Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is highly desired
If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
