Qualifications:

Education Requirement:

  • Doctoral degree in either Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-Accredited program or Masters in Social Work with clinical focus from a CSWE-Accredited program.

License Requirement:

  • Social Worker:  Licensed as an LISW or LMSW in the State of Iowa by date of hire.

  • Psychologist: Possession of a valid State of Iowa license as a psychologist within 18 months of hire.  License must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

Experience Required:

  • Social Worker: Relevant post-degree experience (typically 1-3 years). 
  • Psychologist:  Relevant post-degree experience (typically 1-3 years) or satisfactory completion of a psychology doctoral internship.
  • Extensive knowledge of evidence and theory based mental health counseling in assessment, crisis, individual, and group with a university/college student population.
  • Extensive ability to assess, manage, and ensure high quality mental health counseling and crisis management.
  • Extensive proficiency in planning and delivering outreach programs and consultation services on a university campus.
  • Working knowledge of providing supervision to trainees.
  • Extensive proficiency in the application of communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Extensive proficiency in collaborating and interacting with individuals and groups while valuing the unique contribution of individuals from varied cultures, race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
  • Working proficiency with office support tools and electronic medical records software (e.g., word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets, electronic health records); preferably Microsoft Office and Titanium EHR.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Working proficiency and interest in providing evidence based treatment modalities for eating disorders and body image concerns.
  • Working proficiency with students who are African-American/Black; Mandarin speaking; Asian Indian, Latino/Latina/Latinx, and/or GLBTQ.
  • Working proficiency with infusing technology into the delivery of mental health services.
  • Interest and/or experience in counseling center research.
  • Working proficiency with psychological assessment: administration, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Working proficiency and interest in providing brief psychoeducational group interventions.
