Staff Therapist - University Counseling Service
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in either Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-Accredited program or Master’s degree in Social Work with clinical focus from a CSWE-Accredited program.
- Psychologist: Possession of a valid State of Iowa license as a psychologist within 18 months of hire. Social Worker: Licensed as LISW or LMSW in the State of Iowa by date of hire. License must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
- Psychologist: Relevant post-degree experience (typically 1-3 years) or satisfactory completion of a psychology doctoral internship. Social Worker: Relevant post-degree experience (typically 1-3 years).
- Extensive knowledge of evidence and theory-based mental health counseling in assessment, crisis, individual, case management, and group.
- Extensive ability to assess, manage, and ensure high-quality mental health counseling and crisis management.
- Extensive proficiency in planning and delivering outreach programs and consultation services.
- Working knowledge of providing training and supervision to trainees.
- Expert proficiency in the application of communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Expert proficiency in collaborating and interacting with individuals and groups while valuing the unique contributions of individuals from varied cultures, race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
- Working proficiency with office and tele-mental health support tools and electronic medical records software (e.g., word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets, electronic health records); preferably Microsoft Office, Titanium, and Zoom.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Working proficiency and interest in working within the specialization of and providing treatment modalities for eating disorders and body image concerns.
- Working proficiency with serious and complex mental health concerns and with mental health crises.
- Working proficiency with students who are Mandarin-speaking; Indigenous and Native Americans; Asian Indian; Black/African-American; Latinx; and/or LGBTQ+.
- Working proficiency with infusing technology into the delivery of mental health services.
- Interest and/or experience in counseling center research.
- Working proficiency with psychological assessment: administration, interpretation, and reporting.
- Working proficiency and interest in providing brief psychoeducational group interventions.
- Previous mental health experience working on a college or university campus.
