Qualifications:

Education Requirement:

  • Doctoral degree in either Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-Accredited program OR Master’s degree in Social Work with a clinical focus from a CSWE-Accredited Program OR Master's degree in counseling from a COAMFTE-Accredited Program

License Requirement:

  • Psychologist: Possession of a valid State of Iowa license as a psychologist within 18 months of hire. OR Social Worker: Licensed as an LISW, LMSW, or LMFT in the State of Iowa by date of hire. License must be maintained as a condition of continued employment

Experience Requirements:

  • Psychologist: Relevant post-degree experience (typically 1-3 years), or satisfactory completion of a psychology doctoral internship. OR Social Worker: Relevant post-degree experience (typically 1-3 years).
  • Extensive knowledge of evidence and theory based mental health counseling in assessment, crisis, individual and group with a university/college student population.
  • Working proficiency with providing services on the continuum of drug and alcohol use including substance dependence and abuse, recovery, and early intervention.
  • Extensive proficiency to assess, manage and ensure high quality mental health counseling and crisis management.
  • Extensive proficiency in planning and delivering outreach programs and consultation services on a university campus.
  • Working knowledge of providing supervision to trainees.
  • Extensive proficiency in the application of communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Extensive proficiency in collaborating and interacting with individuals and groups while valuing the unique contribution of individuals from varied cultures, race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
  • Working proficiency with office support tools and electronic medical records software (e.g., word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets, electronic health records); preferably Microsoft Office and Titanium EHR.
 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Working proficiency with serious and complex mental health concerns and with mental health crises.
  • Working proficiency with students who are Mandarin speaking; Asian Indian; Latino/Latina/Latinx; African-American/Black; and/or LGBTQ+.
  • Working proficiency with infusing technology into the delivery of mental health services.
  • Interest and/or experience in counseling center research.
  • Working proficiency with psychological assessment: administration, interpretation and reporting.
  • Working proficiency with eating disorders and body image concerns.
