Position Summary:

As a Student Accountability Coordinator in the Office of Student Accountability, this position assists in administering the Code of Student Life and the Accountability Procedure by interviewing students, determining responsibility, and, if appropriate, imposing the appropriate sanctions. This position may also investigate student organization misconduct allegations and will also use restorative practices in their work with individual students and student organizations.

Specific Job Duties & Tasks:

  • Investigate complaints of violations of university policies by students and student organizations.
  • Determine responsibility following investigations and impose appropriate sanctions.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, faculty, and parents / guardians about the Code of Student Life and Accountability Procedure
  • Assist in preparing the content of reports, websites, and presentations for current and prospective students and families, student organizations, faculty, and staff.
  • Respond to inquiries from external agencies (including other colleges and employers) and provide confidential student record information consistent with departmental protocol and FERPA.
  • Perform background verification checks for internal university departments as needed.
  • Assist in the creation of strategic planning goals and program implementation.
  • Assist in preparing periodic reports of student conduct patterns and trends.
  • Assist with new student orientation as requested.
  • Coordinate educational sanctions imposed by the Office of Student Accountability and Residence Education as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education/Student Development or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience (typically 1-3 years) working within higher education or a related field.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in computer software applications including database management, such as cloud-based management tools, Maxient, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A Masters Degree (MA)
  • Experience using student conduct database software, preferably the Maxient system.
  • Work experience (typically 6mo-1yr) in public speaking, and/or teaching.
  • Work experience (typically 6mo-1yr) developing and delivering training in an educational setting.
