Student Care Coordinator - Dean of Students
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Experience (typically 1-3 years) providing comprehensive advocacy and crisis management
- Commitment to and alignment with the values of the Division of Student Life, including a demonstrated commitment to excellence through diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and risk assessment skills
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to provide timely follow-up to emails, messages, meetings, and case notes
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize issues/concerns
- Comfortable working in changing, ambiguous environment. Able to make appropriate decisions and establish best practices.
- Must be proficient in standard office computer software applications
- Valid driver’s license and motor vehicle history in order to drive University vehicles
- Models open, respectful, accepting, and supportive behaviors with team members
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Higher Education/Student Development, Social Work, Counseling, or related field
- Experience (typically 1-3 years) working with distressed students within an educational institution; preferably in higher education setting
- Experience using database software, preferably the Maxient system
- Training and/or demonstrated experience in student crisis and emergency situations
- Knowledge of University of Iowa offices, policies, and procedures or Iowa City community resources
