Supply Chain Associate (2nd shift) - North Liberty Campus
Serve as a Supply Chain Department liaison for clinics and operating rooms throughout Medical Center North Liberty. Utilize Microsoft Excel, SPM, and Tableau to locate supplies and instruments. Prompt communication with hospital staff regarding emergencies and requests. Ability to move throughout hospital, move up to 25 pounds, and frequently transport heavy case carts. Ability to move and position self to handle inventory, including high/low shelving. Employees will need a valid driver’s license. Other duties as assigned. This position will be scheduled Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. This position is performed fully on campus.
The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Care’s nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient and surgical venues. These state-of-the-art clinical facilities will also include a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. Position Responsibilities:
- Procure and deliver goods and services: Evaluate, procure, receive, store, and deliver goods and services. Initiate requisitions to procure goods and services at the direction of others.
- Organize and maintain hospital inventory.
- Research Products, Prepare Product/ Equipment Specifications, and Contract Management: Obtain and verify information regarding sourcing and acquisition options at the request of others. Review contracts for accurate pricing and apply terms and conditions.
- Inventory Management and Marketing: Receive, properly store and distribute product. Address inventory issues related to the supply chain and suggest models for improvement. Maintain and secure inventory and report issues as needed. Responsible for implementation of marketing strategy or plan.
- Assist with inventory management throughout the hospital.
- Cycle count, order, restock, and receive products.
- Vendor and Customer Relations: Interact with vendors/suppliers to assure the appropriate goods or services are being procured effectively and efficiently. Interact with internal and external customers, answer questions about orders and shipments. Reconcile discrepancies and address customer concerns.
- Work directly with hospital staff to effectively communicate supply chain requests and/or issues for resolution.
- Data Management or Data Systems Development: Maintain inventory/equipment database(s).
- Responsible for the maintenance of inventory data and scanning.
- Fiscal Responsibility: Monitor the budget and assist with managing the budget within defined parameters. Advise management on budgetary needs or discrepancies.
- Leadership/Supervision: May provide functional and/or administrative supervision of staff.
- May provide training to other employees and hospital end users.
- Respond to emails and meeting requests appropriately and timely.
Pay Level: 2B
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 6 months to 1 year related supply chain experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- Prompt communication with hospital staff regarding emergencies and requests.
- Ability to move throughout hospital, move up to 25 pounds, and frequently transport heavy case carts.
- Ability to move and position self to handle inventory, including high/low shelving.
- Employees will need a valid driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Utilize PeopleSoft, SPM or Tableau.
- Effectively multi-task, keeping multiple initiatives moving forward simultaneously.
- Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Knowledge of supply chain management in a hospital setting.
