Supply Chain Coordinator
The University of Iowa Health Care, Department of Pharmaceutical Care, is seeking a full-time, Ambulatory Care, Supply Chain Coordinator to join our Pharmacy team.
The pharmacy supply chain coordinator position is considered essential for the effective long-term operation and support of pharmacy purchasing operations. A person in this role has strong foundational skills in purchasing and inventory management and strong communication skills. This position will provide oversight of the pharmacy inventory levels as well as interact with pharmaceutical vendors.
Position Responsibilities
Submit daily drug orders for ambulatory retail pharmacies through wholesalers, as well as direct orders with other companies.
Work with outpatient staff to facilitate special orders.
Maintain a standardized purchasing management process.
Procure goods and services on behalf of the department at the best value to the University and to ensure compliance.
Review utilization data and adjust inventory ordering points as needed.
Develop and maintain process to review and audit invoice price against contract price. Work with Purchasing Manager to resolve discrepancies.
Ensure compliance with procurement regulations and contract specifications.
Process detailed information with good accuracy.
Assist with medication recalls.
Assist with Drug Supply Chain Security Act compliance.
Identify supply utilization/management optimization opportunities and facilitate savings implementation.
Assist with inventory processes, including cycle counts and annual counts.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Successful completion of the pharmacy technician certification exam within twelve months of the start of employment.
Experience Requirements
Reasonable (1-3 years) experience with supply management principles/applications and procurement.
Proficient in MS Office Suite with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to provide and accept ideas and suggestions in a constructive and helpful manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills, creating positive working relationships with team members including healthcare providers, vendors, supply chain staff and pharmacy staff.
Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge and/or experience with PeopleSoft, Epic, McKesson Connect, the 340B program and Macrohelix™.
Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain management and operation improvement in a pharmacy setting.
Ability to effectively multi-task, keeping multiple initiatives moving forward simultaneously.
Previous pharmacy experience.
