Supply Chain Specialist - Data & Analytics Team
The University of Iowa Health Care Supply Chain Department is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist. This position will use data analytics to support supply chain processes. Create data tools, build data sets to determine par utilization vs. min/max, gather data and conduct analyses to improve supply chain operations. Lead new data and system initiatives. Assist with item master clean up, improve item update/creation process and ensure data integrity across all databases. Generate reports for key departmental areas and provide support for queries, system assistance, emerging tools, system updates and refinements. Resolve end user issues. Serve as key contact for all applicable data and analytics technology: EPIC, PeopleSoft, Smartsheet and Tableau. Other duties as assigned.
- Procure and deliver goods and services: Serve as a technical expert in supply chain operations including strategic planning, value assessment, implementation, and communications. Evaluate outcomes and execute change as necessary. Instill best practices within the unit.
- Inventory Management and Marketing: Adjust inventory, make recommendations, and implement change to avoid obsolescence and maximize value to achieve departmental goals. Monitor and address inventory issues as liaison between the supplier and the end user. Address conflict of supply and demand within budget constraints. Suggest and implement marketing strategy.
- Vendor and Customer Relations: Implement strategic processes for improved communication between vendor and customer. Make recommendations to management for seamless transactions. Proactively identify and resolve issues between vendor and customer.
- Data Management or Data Systems Development: Assist in development and oversight of data needs and software performance. Make recommendations to management and present models for improvement.
- Fiscal Responsibility: Oversee and recommend budgetary adjustments. Develop cost saving strategies and present to management. Assure financial reconciliations and transactions are in accordance with UI policies and procedures.
- Leadership/Supervision: Responsible for creating/maintaining training documents for cross coverage. Exemplify leadership by mentoring other team members through development and coaching.
Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm, Hybrid work arrangements available.
This position is eligible to participate in remote work. Remote work must be performed at a location within the state of Iowa. Successful candidates who participate in remote work must comply with requirements of the remote work program and related policies.

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years related supply chain experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills creating working relationships with team members, vendors and end-users.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite. An Excel test will be distributed to applicants prior to an interview. A PowerPoint presentation will be required at the time of interview.
Desirable Qualifications
- Some knowledge of university policies, procedures and regulations.
- Some knowledge of Power BI.
- Strong team-building skills and experience working in a consensus environment.
- Knowledge of supply chain management and operational improvement in a hospital setting.
- Experience with creating data tools and contract data management for end users.
- Utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software: PeopleSoft, EPIC, SPM, Tableau or Smartsheet.
