The College of Dentistry is looking for a Support Services Specialist to join our Hospital Dentistry team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring smooth clinic operations. Key Responsibilities:

·         Schedule and coordinate patient appointments using AxiUm and Epic systems.

·         Manage provider calendars and daily clinic schedules.

·         Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations.

·         Collect co-pays and assist with patient billing questions.

·         Coordinate referrals and ensure necessary documentation is available.

·         Communicate with patients, providers, and external offices.

·         Train new staff, residents, and student employees on clinic protocols.

·         Resolve scheduling conflicts and urgent care needs.

·         Support clinic workflow and contribute to process improvements.

·         Maintain accurate patient records and appointment data.

 

Salary:  $39,974.40 to commensurate (Pay Grade:  3A)

 

Schedule:            32 hours per work, To Be Determined between Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

                                May require occasional overtime.                            

 

Work Location:  On-Site

Required Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required.

·         6 months – 1-year relevant experience in a health care environment, including the following skillsets:

o   Experience scheduling for multiple providers in a healthcare environment

o   Experience gathering and verifying insurance coverage

o   Experience with electronic health records

o   Experience working in Windows based networked database using multiple data tools

o   Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

 

 

Desirable Qualifications:

·         Experience with dental terminology

·         Some knowledge of university policies, procedures, and regulations.

·         Experience in a public health setting

·         Experience utilizing active conflict management/resolution skills and de-escalation techniques.
