The Department of Counselor Education (CSED) in the College of Education at the University of Iowa is seeking to hire a full-time Constituent Relations Coordinator. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing relationships with our stakeholders, including potential students, students, alumni, and community partners by representing and supporting the CSED clinical and graduate program coordinators. The successful candidate will have an important role in the marketing, recruitment, and retention of graduate students in the department and providing administrative support to the program coordinators, Department Executive Officer and to the department. This person will also have a significant role in communicating with community partners and documenting compliance with professional accreditation standards.  

Location: Lindquist Center in the College of Education, on campus. Not eligible for remote work.  


Specific Job Duties and Tasks

  • Coordinate communications, provide recommendations, and contribute to message development and implementation tactics in correspondence with stakeholders. 
  • Manage the department’s social media presence.  
  • Supports communication within CSED programs and with external stakeholders. 
  • Coordinate the recruitment and marketing for CSED programs. 
  • Correspond with prospective and newly admitted students, maintain prospective students’ information database, prepare, and disseminate program correspondences, confirmation and thank you letters. 
  • Arrange graduate student interviews, orientation, and annual review dates, coordinating food and room reservation days.  
  • Work with DEO to collect and report on data related to CSED’s administrative accreditation standards including graduate student surveys and development of CSED’s Annual Report.  
  • Gather feedback and insights from constituents to inform organizational strategies and decision-making. 
  • Monitor and track interactions with constituents to maintain accurate records and a comprehensive understanding of relationships. 
  • Collaborate with CSED and College of Education staff to create content and materials that resonate with stakeholders. 
  • Arrange for payments of Site Supervisors and maintain documentation. 
  • Plan and monitor spending related to special events (interview days, advisory board meetings, orientations, and trainings).

The Department of Counselor Education develops exceptional, ethical, and socially-just mental health advocates, counselors, and counselor educators for diverse and ever-changing communities. Our MA programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, School Counseling, and our PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, contribute to the profession through the creation and dissemination of knowledge, skills, and attitudes appropriate for the development of ethical and culturally sensitive counseling professionals. Our programs continue to be nationally ranked with our Rehabilitation Counseling and our School Counseling/Counselor Education programs recognized as the nation’s 3rd and 11th top programs respectively.   

Education Requirement

  • A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 

 

Required Qualifications

  • 1 – 3 years of experience in performing administrative processes and associated operating requirements and experience working with a customer service focus; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to a variety of situations.  
  • Knowledge of and ability to use office support tools available on the desktop (e.g., word processing, e-mail, presentation software and spreadsheets).  
  • Ability to work with and build effective relationships with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals.  
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills; and ability to effectively transmit, receive, and interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors at a working proficiency level.  
  • Experience with financial management such as monitoring budgets and reconciling accounts. 
  • Knowledge of the operation and application of academic standards and curricular policies; ability to coordinate and support academic activities to enhance the operation and function of the academic or clinical program. 
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative approaches to engage stakeholders. 



Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in an academic or higher education environment. 
  • Experience with social media and website management. 
  • Professional experience in a communications or similar role involving information gathering and development of program marketing and communications materials.
