Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in literature or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. MFA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in publishing.  Management/supervision experience required, especially of undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary literature, literary publishing, and/or literary magazines.
  • Extensive proficiency in written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Extensive proficiency in Microsoft Office, Acrobat Pro, and website maintenance (e.g., Drupal).
  • Extensive proficiency in copyediting documents according to the Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Basic proficiency in layout and design principles.
  • Working proficiency in social media management: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Basic proficiency in Photoshop.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Working proficiency in InDesign, Filemaker Pro, and Submittable.
  • Working proficiency in subscription management, including renewal efforts
  • Working proficiency in E-newsletter management: Mailchimp or similar
