Admin Services Coordinator - College of Public Health
The University of Iowa College of Public Health is seeking an administrative services coordinator to implement and oversee the new Iowa Health AmeriCorps community service program. The Iowa Health Corps aims to place service members across the state of Iowa in public health apprenticeship placements to expand the capacity of public health services in all counties.
The Iowa Health Corps Coordinator will oversee all activities related to administration of the AmeriCorps grant funding, ensure adherence to university policy and procedure at it relates to AmeriCorps operations and funder requirements, and provide ongoing recruitment and support to service members and host sites. The coordinator will work closely with College of Public Health student services staff and will facilitate communication between all staff and faculty on the Iowa Health AmeriCorps program management team.
Hybrid within the State of Iowa, preferably in Johnson County or surrounding counties. Must be able to commute to College of Public Health Building (CPHB) in Iowa City, IA 2-3 times per week.
General responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Recruits, screens, enrolls, and trains volunteers in alignment with Iowa Health AmeriCorps eligibility requirements and ensures appropriate placements; ensures all proper documentation is obtained; conducts regular volunteer recruitment and outreach events; and recruits, trains, and directs activities of local Advisory Council members with assistance from other staff as assigned.
Examines data to interpret current trends in volunteerism to develop volunteer engagement strategies to effectively recruit and retain service members.
Provides communication to stakeholders, host site partners, internal staff, and service members throughout the year, including scheduling required meetings, professional development workshops, and intermittent host site visits.
Recruits and establishes member host sites and ensures all host sites comply with grant performance measurements as needed; ensures host sites submit reports when scheduled; addresses any concerns expressed by the host site supervisors relative to the Iowa Health AmeriCorps program. Provides training to host sites and supervisors on program requirements and member engagement best practices.
Maintains program data and documentation in compliance with federal regulations and provides required paperwork and reports to grant support offices and funding agencies on time.
Monitors social and environmental factors impacting host sites, service members, and program impact and uses that information to develop meaningful member placements that meet community needs.
Provides leadership and promotion of community service across service area, connecting community members with opportunities to serve and promoting volunteering as a potential solution to local needs, creating a local culture of volunteering and service.
Required Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalency of education and experience.
Minimum of 6 mos. experience working in a project or program coordinator setting.
Strong verbal and written communication
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to understand and operate with complex and changing federal and state grant funding policies.
Strongly Desired Qualifications:
Experience as an AmeriCorps service member or experience facilitating AmeriCorps program grants.
Knowledge of effective community service practices including program design, recruitment, screening, placement, training, supervision and evaluation. Ability to facilitate trainings and professional development opportunities for adult learners.
Ability to translate departmental strategies into relevant services and programs.
Ability to manage multiple programs, projects, events, people, timelines, and tasks simultaneously with independence and autonomy in decision making.
Strong analytical, leadership and planning skills.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in word processing, database management, and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to provide project management utilizing skills to plan, coordinate, schedule, delegate, problem solve and assess.
Ability to take initiative and work effectively in an autonomous environment and facilitate collaboration as part of a team.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in public health (or public health adjacent work) or community engagement in the state of Iowa.
Familiarity with University of Iowa grant policies and procedures.
This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
