Animal Caretaker II
The Office of Animal Resources at the University of Iowa is seeking an Animal Caretaker II. In the role of an Animal Caretaker II, you will join a team of veterinarians, vet techs, and other animal caretakers where you will provide feeding and care of animals. Animal Caretakers do not conduct research, are provided training and encouraged to become certified. This position functions under general supervision, handles, feeds, and cares for animals and animal facilities in compliance with federal, state, and/or university regulations. Provides functional supervision to other employees as required. Position has mandatory overtime and works a rotating holiday schedule. Position may rotate to other OAR facilities to provide coverage.
Work Schedule: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Sunday-Thursday, days off are Friday and Saturday.

Pay Grade: GD06
Qualifications:
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
· Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
· Two years experience and/or education in animal care work, or demonstrated ability in the required skills, or
· American Association of Laboratory Animal Science full certification as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician with a minimum of one year applicable work experience.
Special Qualification/Licenses
· Possession of a valid state or commercial driver's license, and the ability to meet University Fleet Safety Standards.
