The Finance and Business Information Services department intends to hire for one position at either the Application Developer classification or Senior Application Developer based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Please indicate in your cover letter the position you wish to be considered for or indicate both.

 

The purpose of this position is to join the application development team in Finance and Business Information Services, conduct design and development in full project life cycle, and implement improvements in the overall process.

 

This position performs application development, including business process evaluation, conceptual and security design, database design and implementation, front-end programming, system implementation and testing, solution maintenance, and integration of multiple systems, including third-party solutions.

 

Leadership responsibility for this position consists of relationship building, project and deliverable management, and communication within development team, senior management, customers and other teams, and across university boundaries. This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.

 

Duties to Include:

  • Analyzes work processes and operations; evaluate business requirements and information systems' functionality.

  • Provides direct first level support to end users to help resolve software and operating system issues from phone and email requests.

  • Develops and manages work plan and time schedules for projects within Application Development unit of Finance and Business Information Services, including outlining phases and identifying personnel, resource, and computing equipment requirements.

  • Identifies and implements required infrastructure to support specific processes.

  • Designs, develops, tests, and deploys applications according to requirements.

 

Location: Mossman Business Services Building (MBSB)

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, flexibility for some off-hours work to troubleshoot critical issues

Salary: Application Developer: $78,501- commensurate; Senior Application Developer: $93,401- commensurate

Application Developer - Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and related experience in application development may also serve to meet this minimum requirement.

  • Direct work-related experiences (typically 1-3 years) in workgroup/department level application development.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff.

  • Microsoft .NET C#, .NET Core, WEB API frameworks

  • Experiences with HTML / CSS  framework, such as Bootstrap and Material Design

  • Experiences with JavaScript, user interface platforms, and common libraries (Angular, TypeScript, jQuery, RxJS)

  • Experiences with DBMS such as Microsoft SQL and/or Oracle, and Data Integration.

  • Good knowledge of Object-Oriented programming, SOLID design principles, tactical use of DDD.

  • Experience with project management, business analysis, and business and technical communication.

  • Experience with distributed source control systems, such as Git (GitLab) Platform

  • Understanding of HTTP protocol

  • Understanding of Unit Testing and Integration Testing framework and tools, such as MSTest, xUnit, NUnit, Moq, SpecFlow, and so on.

Application Developer - Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience development applications in a higher educational setting

  • 3-5 years direct work-related experiences in workgroup/department level application development.

  • Experience with Entity Framework

  • Experiences with Development packaging and Continuous Integration tools (NuGet, NPM, TeamCity, Jenkins)

  • Understanding of scripting and Automation with PowerShell

  • Experience with requirement development and specifications writing

  • Understanding of Web Server support (IIS, SSL)

Senior Application Developer - Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering, Computer Science, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and related experience in application development may also serve to meet this minimum requirement.

  • Direct work-related experiences, (typically 3-5 years) in department/enterprise level application development including full project life cycle management.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff. Experience in conducting presentations to technical and non-technical audience.

  • Expertise with HTML, Microsoft.NET platform, C#, .NET Core, ASP.net MVC, WEB API frameworks, Entity Framework; VS Code, and Visual Studio IDE.

  • Experience with JavaScript, user interface platforms, and common libraries (Angular, TypeScript, jQuery, RxJS).

  • Experience with DBMS including Microsoft SQL and Oracle, and Data Integration and Reporting platforms, such as SSIS, SSRS, and PowerBI.

  • Experience with Development packaging and Continuous Integration tools (NuGet, NPM, TeamCity, Jenkins).

  • Experience with information system security challenges and compliance requirements.

  • Experience with requirement development and specifications writing.

  • Experience with Business and Technical Communication, Project Management, Business Analysis, Technical Leadership, Staff Hiring, Motivation, Training, and Performance Evaluation.

  • Experience with distributed source control systems, such as Git (GitLab) Platform.

  • Experience with Integration with third-party applications across enterprise boundary.

  • Excellent knowledge of Object-Oriented programming, SOLID principles, Design Patterns, Dependency Injection, Micro services, tactical use of DDD.

  • Understanding of Unit Testing and Integration Testing framework and tools, such as MSTest, xUnit, NUnit, Moq, SpecFlow, and so on.

  • Understanding of Web Server support (IIS, SSL), Active Directory, and firewall rules.

  • Understanding of cloud computing and containerization platforms, such as AWS/Azure and Docker

  • Understanding of scripting and automation with PowerShell.

  • Understanding of system health monitoring tools (Prometheus and ELK Stack).

Senior Application Developer - Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with application development in a higher educational setting.

  • Experience with Mobile application development.

  • Experience with Business and Financial Applications.
