Assistant Coach, Iowa Flyers Swim Club

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and related coaching experience.
• Coaching experience (typically 6mo-1year) with competitive swimmers of multiple age groups and ability levels in a USA Swimming, high school, or collegiate environment.
• Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques and ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
• Demonstrated working knowledge and proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Work requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends and travel.
• Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals.

Required Certifications:

• Must be a current USA Swimming registered coach.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches certifications as deemed acceptable by USA Swimming for coaches safety certification are required upon hire.
• American Red Cross CPR/AED for Lifeguards and Lifeguarding/First Aid certifications or ability to attain within 3 months of hire.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI) certification or ability to attain within 6 months of hire.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Advanced coaching experience (2 years or more) with competitive swimmers of multiple age groups and ability levels in a USA Swimming, high school, or collegiate environment.
• Advanced coaching experience working with USA Swimming Junior National Level swimmers or higher level or equivalent.
• Competition experience as a swimmer at the USA and/or International Swimming Junior National level or higher, or NCAA (Div. I-III) Conference Championship level or higher.
• Experience using Team Unify Swimming team management program.
• Experience using Hy-Tek Meet Manager software.
• Experience operating a swimming timing system, i.e., Colorado Daktronics
• American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 2 or higher certification.
• Knowledge or experience with structured dry land strength/conditioning programs.
