To serve as an institutional expert on Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accreditation requirements and reporting.  Provide guidance on institutional and program-level accreditation standards and requirements, track data, and recommend follow-up action for UIHC and its GME programs to achieve continual program improvement. 

  • Provide knowledge and interpretation of ACGME standards at all levels (program and institutional); remain current with standards as the ACGME and Program Review Committees modify them over time.
  • Provide oversight for the analysis, interpretation, and implementation of ACGME accreditation requirements across all GME programs.
  • Provide oversight of planning and goals with respect to the applicable ACGME institutional standards and related policies for all accredited GME programs at UIHC.
  • Provide oversight of planning and goals with respect to the applicable institutional standards and related policies for all Non-standard, unaccredited GME programs at UIHC.
  • Engage with specific GME programs, their Program Directors, Program Coordinators, and Residency Review Committees as needed to ensure understanding and compliance with required curriculum, design, review and reporting, as well as compliance with the UIHC GMEC institutional policies.
  • Partner with, support, advise and collaborate with the GME Office leadership and staff, the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), Program Directors, and Program Coordinators.
  • Propose and implement strategies for programs to reach comprehensive goals.
  • Prepare periodic reports on ACGME program compliance trends and communicate recommendations to appropriate GME leaders.
  • Review and provide detailed feedback to Program Directors on their annual updates to the ACGME.
  • Identify accreditation deficiencies and opportunities for continuous quality improvement at the program and institutional levels.
  • Identify and establish methods including tracking systems and data analytics to support and monitor effectiveness and best practices for UIHC Graduate Medical Education programs.
  • Establish a calendar/tickler system to meet deadlines on compliance for program and institutional data submissions to the ACGME, GMEC-determined deadlines and leadership needs.
  • Advise and complete, as needed, communications to ACGME, and other accreditation or institutional documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate with the GME Office staff as needed to support new and ongoing GME initiatives, needs, and activities.
  • Assist in the setting up and execution of special reviews of programs and preparations for accreditation site visits in conjunction with the Director of Continuous Accreditation Initiatives.
  • Generate ideas for integrating educational initiatives with accreditation requirements to promulgate faculty and staff educational development opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a contemporary Transitional Professional Development Program for all new residents and fellows in conjunction with other GME leaders and the Associate Dean/Associate Hospital Director for GME.
  • Oversee support for emerging and new faculty collaboratives such as the Clinical Teaching Collaborative.
  • Develop and provide data for necessary budget allocations through the UIHC Funds Flow Model to clinical departments regarding ACGME mandated FTE requirements across GME accredited programs.
  • Manage program evaluation for educational programming offered through the Office of GME.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of GME process improvement initiatives associated with Continuous Educational Improvement meetings, Annual Program Evaluations, Annual Institutional Reviews, Self-Studies, and Special Program Reviews.
  • Provide administrative guidance and support to faculty committees as assigned.
  • Provide supervision to the Education and Accreditation Project Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree is required or a combination of education and experience.
  • 1 year of progressive experience in program management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing, interpreting, and communicating ACGME accreditation requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and strong capabilities to work collaboratively in teams.
  • Demonstrated achievement developing and evaluating programs and performance related to successful short- and long-term projects.
  • Proficiency in Zoom, Qualtrics, Smartsheet, ACGME Accreditation Data System, and MedHub.
  • Experience supervising 1-2 staff.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Medical education and experience with ACGME standards is preferred.
  • Familiarity with UIHC and GME policies, procedures, and data systems.
