The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Assistant Director, Athletics Digital Media and Branding. This is a full-time (probationary and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 250 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: This position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of comprehensive communication and brand strategies to enhance the visibility and reputation of all 22 of the sports programs and the Athletics Department. This role involves collaborating with various departments to ensure consistent and effective brand messaging across all platforms. This position will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year experience in a fast-paced, high-profile communications, marketing, social media or public relations position; Ability to creatively produce and manage the design, layout, content and flow of multiple publications for multiple platforms (web, e-mail, podcasts, digital audio & video, digital photography, social media and print).
- Experience utilizing Adobe Creative Suite tools including InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom as well as social media scheduling and analytics platforms.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships.
- Working knowledge of and ability to:
- Utilize basic office support software (word processing, email, etc.)
- Operate effectively within a highly-regulated team environment.
- Develop and perform specific tasks related to marketing and advertising plans for a sport.
- Create, manage, schedule and analyze effective social media content.
- A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy standards.
Desired Qualifications:
- Two or more years Athletics/sports experience including previous promotion of high-profile teams and student-athletes.
- Experience working collaboratively with an external relations unit that includes social media, photography, communications, videography, video production, graphic design, and marketing.
- Proficient in computer software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and sports statistical software. Experience with Genius statistical software highly desired.
- Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field (e.g. journalism, marketing, communications).
- Experience working with ChatGPT, Bard or other AI (artificial intelligence) programs to improve productivity.
- Familiarity with website content management systems; Experience with WMT highly desired.
- Proficient in social media content creation and management including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other emerging platforms.
- Demonstrated experience in feature writing and designing infographics.
