The Marketing Coordinator for Simulation in Motion - Iowa (SIM-IA) oversees the developing and implementation of marketing strategies aimed at promoting the SIM-IA program. This role involves crafting marketing materials, managing social media platforms, event planning, and coordinating outreach initiatives to increase program visibility, awareness, and engagement with the program.
Simulation in Motion-Iowa (SIM-IA)
This program is focused on providing clinical simulation education for EMS and other healthcare providers across the state. SIM-IA has launched three mobile simulation labs that is staffed with registered nurses, paramedics, and EMTs to provide state-of-the-art education with high volume, high risk, and/or low frequency emergencies to improve patient care, clinical outcomes, and provider experiences.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Research and Analysis
- Monitor and analyze market trends to adjust strategies as needed.
- Track and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
- Use analytics tools to measure engagement and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports for the SIM-IA leadership team on marketing performance.
- Utilize Google Analytics and other evaluation tools to assess efficiency of SIM-IA webpages.
- Identify alternative reliable resources for information and research.
Message Development and Implementation
- Generate ideas, provide recommendations, and contribute to message development and implementation tactics.
- Collaborate with college and university partners to ensure communication deadlines are met.
- Ensure scripts for events are prepared.
- Design, write, and produce marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, newsletters, and digital content.
- Develop key messaging and create engaging content and graphics for social media platforms, website, and email campaigns.
- Revise and maintain effective, high-quality web content to ensure optimal site experiences and usability.
- Collaborate with College of Nursing marketing team to ensure webpages and content are consistent with the college and university’s marketing goals, branding and strategies.
- Collaborate with the SIM-IA leadership, staff, partners, and participants to gather stories and testimonials for promotional use.
- Develop a strategy to manage and grow SIM-IA's social media presence on platforms such as Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
- Schedule and publish regular posts to keep followers informed and engaged.
- Collaborate with College of Nursing Marketing team on creation of marketing materials.
Marketing Plan
- In collaboration with SIM-IA Director, develop, coordinate, and implement comprehensive marketing strategy to promote SIM-IA's services and programs. Work with the College Director of Communication, Marketing, and External Relations to ensure the marketing plan aligns with the college‘s initiatives.
- Strategically plan SIM-IA internal and external events.
Public Relations
- Identify target audiences and tailor marketing efforts to reach them effectively.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, educational institutions, and community organizations.
- Represent SIM-IA at community events and professional gatherings.
- Attend and manage all preparation for attendance at and follow up of events.
- Attend and serve as SIM-IA representative at all SIM-IA events.
- Foster partnerships to support the growth and sustainability of the program.
- Provide support for outreach events.
- Assist with planning outreach.
- Develop compelling features and impactful stories tailored for stakeholders and target audiences.
- Create, publish, and edit high quality photography, video, and content for website.
- Travel to domestic events as a representative of the SIM-IA program.
Brand Management
- Stay abreast of Iowa branding policies.
- Ensure brand consistency on all materials such as brochures, social media, displays, website, etc.
Operational Support and Management
- Plan and coordinate promotional events, workshops, and conferences to showcase SIM-IA's offerings.
- Maintain and recommend SWAG for SIM-IA program.
- Work with community partners to organize joint events and outreach activities.
- Ensure all events are well publicized to increase attendance by target audiences.
- Manage communication platforms and contact lists for internal and external communication dissemination.
- Collect and maintain stakeholder specific contact lists.
- Assist with editing and formatting slide show presentations to add visual interest and make accessible.
- Communicate regularly and effectively information with SIM-IA team regarding events, marketing plans, retreats, etc.
- Responsible for venue selections, food/supply ordering, participate invites, set-up, clean-up arrangements, hotel/travel reservations, attendee tracking, AV equipment, order and support, etc.
- Archive event information and update master communication calendar.
Financial Management
- Gather financial quotes and coordinate logistics.
- Initiate purchase requests for supplies and equipment.
- Assist with budget development.
- Monitor expenditures and reconcile statements as needed.
- Determine costs and provide input to budget development.
- Monitor and report on designated project/event budget components.
- Maintain records for billing purposes and event files with all pertinent information.
- Initiate purchase requests for supplies and equipment.

Supervision and Leadership
- Serve as the lead for assignments, provide feedback for all events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Typically, one or more years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, or similar role.
- Demonstrated experience with event planning.
- Related experience in web strategy and/or web content management
- Ability to produce high-quality work with effective time management under deadline while remaining positive.
- Demonstrated ability with social media platforms and marketing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks and manage several projects simultaneously in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member to accomplish goals.
- Working knowledge and ability to use tools such as Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet search tools.
- Knowledge of graphic design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated by the ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors to provide excellent customer service and maintain working relationships.
- Demonstrated keen attention to detail and accuracy, with strong organizational skills
- Establish priorities, meet deadlines, and solve problems independently and creatively.
- Ability to travel to regional meetings and conferences.
- Ability to move, push, or pull 40 pounds occasionally and frequent 15 pound move/push/pull in related tasks. Use of assistive equipment to move heavy materials.
- Valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet and maintain University Fleet Safety Standards.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare or educational marketing
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and email marketing platforms.
- Knowledge of the University of Iowa policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Experience with AP style
- Prior experience working in an academic or higher education environment
