Assistant Director of Aquatics

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Physical Education, Recreation Administration, Sports Management, or related field.
• Experience (typically 1-3 years) working in collegiate or competitive aquatic facilities.
• Working knowledge of aquatics functional processes and associated operating requirements; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations including technical proficiency in aquatics sports timing equipment, audio/video systems, and event management software.
• Commitment to and alignment with the values of the Division of Student Life, including a demonstrated commitment to excellence through anti-oppression, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Working knowledge of aquatic event management processes and activities; ability to plan, organize, and execute events and to coordinate resources before, during, and after an event.
• Extensive understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
• Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
• Ability to lift up to fifty pounds.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of competitive aquatic events (swimming, diving, water polo).
• Demonstrated experience using Hy-Tek Meet Manager, Daktronics, and Colorado Time Systems.
• Knowledge of the prevention and treatment of intentional or unintentional injuries; ability to implement emergency procedures in accordance with appropriate safety plans.
• Previous supervisory experience (typically 6 months or more).
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI) Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
