Assistant Director of Iowa Wildlife Camps and School of the Wild
Education or Equivalency Required
- Bachelor’s degree required or a combination of education and relevant work experience
Required Qualifications
- Typical minimum of one or more years of experience in formal, or informal, educational programming.
- Commitment to and alignment with the values of the College of Education, including a demonstrated commitment to excellence through anti-oppression, diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Extensive understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel, as needed.
- Models open, respectful, accepting, and supportive behaviors with team members.
Required Certifications
- Valid Iowa Driver’s License and ability to maintain UI driving requirements.
- Valid Department of Transportation Class B Certified Driver’s License with Airbrake and Passenger Endorsements (or willingness to work toward obtaining within one month of hire).
- Iowa Department of Education School Bus Driving Certification (or willingness to work toward obtaining within one month of hire).
- First Aid, CPR and AED (or willingness to obtain within one month of hire).
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of University of Iowa (UI) policies and procedures.
- Working experience (typically one season or more) in environmental education programming.
