Education or Equivalency Required  

  • Bachelor’s degree required or a combination of education and relevant work experience  

Required Qualifications 

  • Typical minimum of one or more years of experience in formal, or informal, educational programming.  
  • Commitment to and alignment with the values of the College of Education, including a demonstrated commitment to excellence through anti-oppression, diversity, equity and inclusion. 
  • Extensive understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. 
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel, as needed. 
  • Models open, respectful, accepting, and supportive behaviors with team members. 

Required Certifications 

  • Valid Iowa Driver’s License and ability to maintain UI driving requirements. 
  • Valid Department of Transportation Class B Certified Driver’s License with Airbrake and Passenger Endorsements (or willingness to work toward obtaining within one month of hire). 
  • Iowa Department of Education School Bus Driving Certification (or willingness to work toward obtaining within one month of hire). 
  • First Aid, CPR and AED (or willingness to obtain within one month of hire). 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University of Iowa (UI) policies and procedures.   
  • Working experience (typically one season or more) in environmental education programming.
