Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience (typically 1-3 years) providing comprehensive and demonstrated advocacy and crisis management.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and risk assessment skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to provide timely follow-up to emails, messages, meetings, and case notes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and utilize critical thinking skills to address new issues/concerns.
  • Proficient in standard office computer software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals.
  • Models open, respectful, accepting, and supportive behaviors with team members.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Development, Social Work, or related field.
  • Experience (typically 1-3 years) working with distressed students within an educational institution; preferably in higher education environment.
  • Experience using database software; preferably the Maxient system.
  • Training and/or demonstrated experience in student crisis and emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa offices, policies, and procedures, or Iowa City community resources.
