The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Care’s nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient and surgical venues. These state-of-the-art clinical facilities will also include a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. University of Iowa Health Care presents an opportunity for an experienced nurse leader to join our team. We are seeking a full time Assistant Nurse Manager for Prep/Recovery at our North Liberty Campus. The Assistant Nurse Manager with Prep/Recovery manages direct patient care nursing functions to ensure that health services, medical care, medical/health professions education, and evidence-based practice research programs are delivered effectively and efficiently. Positions in this job family will have direct patient care responsibilities. Efforts will focus on planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving health care operations, clinical and education programs of clinical departments.

Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: primarily day shift M-F between the hours of 07-1730. Extension of shift and call per unit needs. Possible weekends and holidays per unit needs.

Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.
- Three years of progressing leadership responsibilities.
- Three years PACU, Prep/Recovery in OR or procedural setting RN experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, decision making and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency with computer software applications (such as Microsoft programs)
- Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughness
- Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments.
- Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education.
- Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so
- Professional nursing certification within one year of employment relevant to position
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in a large academic medical center.
- Leadership and/or manager experience
- Experience in a union environment.
- Specialty certification within one year of eligibility to sit for exam.
- Master’s degree in a healthcare related field
