The Office of the Student Financial Aid is seeking an Associate Director, MAUI Operations and Systems. is responsible for creating, maintaining, and identifying opportunities to effectively administer and coordinate approximately $600M+ in student financial aid annually. This position leads, manages, and directs the financial aid operational software systems ensuring compliance including but not limited to MAUI, Dispatch web service, Jira Project Management, MyUI, and other relevant financial aid systems.

They will also have the opportunity to:

  • Proposing policies, procedures, strategic planning, and technology initiatives related to the overall direction and mission of the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA).
  • Works collaboratively with OSFA staff and MAUI IT team in gathering business requirements, conducting business analysis, and implementing business process improvements.
  • Make recommendations for resolution and best practices; facilitates the development and execution of solutions in response to changing business needs and the availability of new technology and systems.
  • Provides supervision, assigns responsibility, evaluates performance, trains, assists with corrective action plans when necessary, and makes salary increase recommendations for direct report(s).

About the Department: The Office of Student Financial Aid assists students with the costs of their educational investment. Our committed team of professionals works in partnership with families, providing information on available options and assisting with the financial aid process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 5-7 years of related experience in financial aid or related

Demonstrates an Extensive PROFICIENCY LEVEL in:

  • Experience managing multiple tasks, including a high level of autonomy, decision-making, and time organization.
  • Experience leading projects with varying degrees of priority and complexity, while working with key stakeholders to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing and maintaining a project and/or work calendar, including policies, procedures and timelines.
  • The use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Understanding and applying effective written and verbal communications, concepts, tools, and techniques.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Ten years of related experience, including financial aid and Title IV federal aid.
  • Experience supervising others and expert proficiency holding staff accountable for high performance and engagement by articulating expectations, monitoring performance, and providing consistent, constructive feedback.
  • Active involvement and leadership in local, state, or national financial aid professional associations.
  • Familiarity with Jira software or other agile project management software.
  • Advanced experience with the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with the University of Iowa MAUI system (or similar), preferred.

Work Modality: This job is on campus with a future possibility of a hybrid schedule of one day/week. Hybrid work within Iowa will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

 

Percent of Time: 100%, full time

 

Compensation: $72,000- Commensurate based on experience and qualifications, with Full Benefits
