EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience (typically 3 months – 1 year) supporting and monitoring network systems, and/or servers
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills. Must be systematic, technically curious, and self-motivated.
• Knowledge of IP addressing
• Knowledge of the OSI model
• Ability to participate in a 24x7x365 on call rotation
• Ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety requirements (see website for info) https://uiowa.edu/riskmanagement/vehicle-use
• Ability to accomplish day to day tasks including ascend/descend a ladder, lift, transport up to 50 pounds

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with DNS and DHCP
• Experience with configuration and support of wired and wireless communication network devices as well as the diagnosis and resolution of basic network problems.
• Experience working with network documentation tools such as Microsoft Visio.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting a variety of wired and/or wireless client devices
• Experience with monitoring tools and technologies (e.g. Syslog, SNMP, AKIPS, etc.)
• Experience supporting enterprise level (500+ users) network systems
