The University of Iowa Office of the Registrar is seeking to hire a 100% full-time Associate Registrar, General Catalog.

Join the University of Iowa as our next Associate Registrar, General Catalog! Be at the heart of academic excellence by shaping the official source of curriculum requirements for all colleges and programs. Collaborate with campus partners and lead the charge in publishing the annual General Catalog—where precision meets purpose. Join the Office of the Registrar and have an opportunity to:

  • Edit and maintain catalog pages for departments and programs, along with their approved programs of study, in addition to information about colleges, departments, programs, and the university. This involves copyediting, proofreading, formatting, and light HTML coding to ensure consistency, accuracy, and accessibility across all catalog content.
  • Collaborate with the degree audit and sample plans teams to alert them of changes so they can update their audits and plans accordingly to support students’ progress toward a degree.
  • Collaborate with campus partners and registrar office staff to adjust the catalog to meet changing needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleges and departments to assist them throughout the catalog process and to ensure they meet deadlines to guarantee the catalog will meet its annual production deadlines.

About the Department: In the Office of the Registrar, our mission is to provide the University faculty, staff, students, and public with accurate academic records that support the institution’s primary focus. Our office strives to foster a welcoming and supportive environment,, anticipate campus needs, optimize resources, and strengthen key processes to support the mission of the university and to become a national model for registrar services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience (typically 1-3 years) working in higher education, registration, curriculum management, communications, academic planning, project management, or information management.
  • Experience editing a publication to align with a specific style guide.

 

Competencies Required:

  • Demonstrates an EXTENSIVE proficiency level in:
    • Knowledge and application of various communication techniques and relationship-building skills, including listening skills and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
    • Ability to lead meetings, facilitate discussions, and guide decision-making processes.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively on complex projects that may involve many stakeholders and/or competing priorities.
    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proven track record of effectively balancing competing priorities in a dynamic environment, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates, gather information, and ensure deadlines are met.
    • Meticulous attention to detail.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with the CourseLeaf content management system, particularly the CAT module.
  • Experience working with the University of Iowa’s MAUI student information system.
  • Experience with curriculum development and management.
  • Demonstrate experience managing complex projects from initiation to completion.

Work Modality: This position is eligible for hybrid or remote work within Iowa with some on-campus requirements, offering schedule flexibility based on position requirements. Modality will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Compensation: Starting salary minimum $55,613 with Competitive Benefits
