Asst Research Scientist - Neuroscience and Pharmacology (Abel Lab)
Required Qualifications:
- A PhD degree with 1-3 years of experience in the conduct of health science research or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent computational, written and verbal skills
- Experience managing mouse colonies including husbandry and genotyping
- Experience performing animal behavior tasks
- Knowledge in basic molecular techniques including DNA/RNA/Protein extraction, PCR, and western blotting
- Strong problem solving and attentiveness to detail
- Willingness to work flexible hours
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic neuroscience and/or genetics
- Knowledge of standard lab operation, chemical, hazardous waste and ability to understand and enforce safety procedures
- Experience with IACUC record-keeping including the creation of formal reports
- Experience with grant budgets and reports
- Some knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures, and regulations
