In this role, you'll be the go-to expert for Tippie researchers, guiding them through the use of data resources and computational infrastructure. You'll act as a crucial link between the business and research domains and the technical world of data science solutions. By developing a deep understanding of Tippie's data resources and high-performance computing needs, you'll ensure that researchers have the support they need to succeed.

You'll provide first-tier end-user support and training for various data solutions and platforms, helping users navigate and utilize these tools effectively. Your responsibilities will include defining, documenting, organizing, maintaining, and archiving data analytics solutions, ensuring that everything is well-structured and accessible.

Additionally, you'll assist in the preparation, cleansing, and verification of data, tackling complex data collection and coding issues with ease. Working independently, you'll resolve intricate data collection challenges and interpret difficult questions about data content and applicability, making sure that the data is accurate and reliable for research purposes.

This position requires a 100% on-campus presence. However, a hybrid work arrangement, with a minimum of three days on campus, is a possibility. The specific work arrangement will be discussed during the interview process.

Specific Job Duties and Tasks: 

  • Store, categorize, and update the organization’s documents to ensure the security, effectiveness, and integrity of business information.
  • Collect, store, organize, and dispense information from and to multiple sources.
  • Utilize tools, techniques, and practices for the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of electronic data.
  • Apply knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques to recognize, anticipate, and resolve organizational, operational, or process problems in diverse situations.
  • May form and lead teams of students working with faculty on data projects.

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location. 

Salary: $46,045-$61,393

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications 

  • Typically 6 months of experience using databases, business intelligence, spreadsheet, and presentation software tools for analysis
  • Understanding of data visualization/reporting tools
  • Demonstrated ability to turn raw data into actionable information via analytic methods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to use creative thinking when working with data


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working on cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in a position that required working independently without supervision and as a cooperative and interactive member of a hybrid team.
