Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience (typically 5 years) in communications, project management or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with senior leaders/executives.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interactions with university faculty, administrators as well as representatives from other higher education institutions, government agencies and entities.

  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

  • Ability to respond to high pressure circumstances quickly and calmly.

  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Ability to be available on-call and during weekends and holidays as needed.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of public relations principles and practices as they pertain to the internal and external communication needs of a public safety organization.

  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting information.

  • Experience writing talking points and providing media training.
