Clinical/Health Care Research Associate
This position’s responsibilities include screening patients for study eligibility and consent for clinical trials; educating patients on the scope of the study, potential risks and benefits, possible alternatives, and study requirements; communicating findings and information to the Principal Investigator; verifying patient eligibility; and administering study medication.
Specific duties include:
· Apply clinical skills to deliver and evaluate research protocols
· Perform clinical/health care research activities within a skilled/specialized area
· Screen, recruit, verify eligibility, enroll, and obtain informed consent from patients for clinical research activities
· Educate patients on scope of study, potential risks and benefits, possible alternatives, and study requirements for patients
· Effectively communicate research findings and information related to patients and study/clinical trials to the Principal Investigator
· Review query reports; perform and monitor randomizations; enter study data into the study database; and maintain study database, including query resolution
· Assist patients with problems related to protocol and resolve all monitoring visit issues
· Serve as liaison to local health care practitioners, agencies, and sponsors
· Oversee the recruitment of subjects and scheduling of trial-related procedures
· Administer study medication as per study protocol; perform phlebotomy for collection of blood specimens as per study protocol; process and ship samples to the central lab or specimen control for testing; and assess patients for adverse events
· Perform study-related procedures and assessments as assigned by the Principal Investigator and the delegation of authority log
· Develop and prepare complex study recruitment materials; manage and organize regulatory documentation; prepare regulatory submissions; and prepare and present Institutional Review Boards or other submissions and required regulatory documents
Position Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Iowa Nursing License
· Minimum 36 months (3 years) experience in performing clinical/health care research activities in a skilled/specialized area and
· Demonstrated proficiency in computer software applications
· Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, and organizational skills
