Core Facility Research Professional - Iowa Neuroscience Institute

Education Requirements

·         Requires the academic knowledge of a discipline in the biological or psychological sciences plus the ability to apply and adapt this knowledge generally associated with a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, such that one can perform beginning level of research in a natural or health science field or discipline.

Experience Requirements

·         At least one year of laboratory management and supervisory experience

·         One to three years of experience in research

·         Relevant experience in the conduct of non-human subjects related research

·         Experience with animal handling/husbandry

·         Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Experience with data handling and presentation

·         Experience with data analysis/statistics/programming

·         Self-motivated and driven to learn new skills and techniques

Desired Qualifications

·         Experience with breeding and genotyping genetically modified mice

·         Experience with molecular biology lab techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, etc.

·         Experience working with performing animal surgical techniques or other tasks requiring manually dexterity

·         Experience with histological techniques

·         Experience with microscopy

·         Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and procedures
