REQUIRES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
  • 1-3 years experience in a clinical healthcare laboratory setting including the following skillsets:

Clinical Laboratory Testing - Working Experience

Knowledge of and ability to use medical laboratory equipment to examine specimens according to test requests and to obtain accurate results for further disease diagnosis following laboratory policies and ethics.

  • Participates in processing specimens (e.g. biological specimens) according to test requests.
  • Operates laboratory equipment required to examine clinical specimens.
  • Produces reports based on laboratory test results to help in further diagnosis.
  • Adheres to relevant policies and ethics for clinical laboratory testing.


Health Care Policy and Ethics Compliance – Working Experience

Knowledge of health care policies for all clinical practices and applicable laws and regulations governing proper clinical practice; ability to demonstrate ethical behavior in diverse situations.

  • Implements health care policies and ethical requirements when providing clinical laboratory services.
  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment based on specific policies.

Laboratory Record Management – Working Experience

 

Establishing, storing, and managing up-to-date laboratory records for relevant healthcare participants while following relevant guidelines.

  • Performing accurate record keeping in laboratory information system.
  • Providing release of patient information to outside institutions adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintaining storage of pathology materials within the department.

HIGHLY Desirable:


Experience:

  • With histological techniques for use in diagnosis of patient specimens, including sectioning, staining, and coverslipping pathology slides.
  • Operating and performing maintenance on laboratory equipment including tissue processors, embedding centers, microtomes, autostainers and microbiological incubators.
  • Certification in a laboratory science by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
  • With direct patient contact.
  • Working in a fast-paced, high volume laboratory.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with customers/providers regarding patient care and/or test results.
