Position Summary:

The Department of Radiation Oncology is currently seeking a Clinical Trial & Data Management Research Assistant/Data Manager. This role will Support, conduct and manage clinical trials to deliver and evaluate research protocols in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Key areas of responsibility include protocol development/management and study responsibilities; research/clinical activities, subject recruitment and enrollment, data collection and monitoring; regulatory guidelines and documents and financial responsibility.

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Consult with researchers to assist in developing a data management plan
  • Design forms to facilitate the collection and tracking of study participant data, study drugs, biological specimens and study procedures.
  • May screen, recruit, enroll and obtain informed consent for clinical trials.
  • Perform all data processing tasks such as: enter data, verify data, identify problem data, generate queries, etc.
  • Develop procedures for on-site data audits, participate in audits, and design and generate reports for use in data audits

Education Requirement:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic experience and participation with clinical trials, following specific protocol techniques and management.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications (MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage complex information with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting electrocardiograms (ECG)
  • Experience working with Epic and OnCore databases.
  • 6 months to 1 year of related experience in Oncology.
  • Current IATA certification (International Air Transportation).
  • Experience with laboratory functions including processing specimens per protocol, as well as storage of specimens, maintaining lab areas, inventories, orders.
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures and regulations
