Qualifications:

Education or Equivalency Required
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, business administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications

·         Demonstrated communications experience in a professional setting, including strategic planning, writing, and editing.

·         Excellent attention-to-detail and organizational skills.

·         Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills.

·         Demonstrates experience multitasking and working with a variety of projects.

·         Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others in a team setting.

·         Knowledge of using social media strategically to reach key stakeholder audiences.

Desirable Qualifications

·         Knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures and regulations.

·         Proficient working knowledge of social media platforms.

·         Experience in editing with strong proofreading, grammar, and spelling skills.

·         Experience using graphics software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop).

·         Experience creating web content and working in a content management system (e.g. Drupal).

·         Experience with fund raising.

·         Three (3) work samples, including at least two writing samples (e.g. press releases, published stories, etc.).
