Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Exercise Science, Sports Management, Community Recreation, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Working experience (typically 6 months – 1 year) of professional or graduate assistant experience in a college or university fitness & wellness program, or comparable community fitness & wellness program experience.
  • Basic experience (typically 6 months – 1 year) in performance management, including hiring, training, and developing personal trainers within a college or university fitness & wellness program or comparable community fitness & wellness program.
  • Must be currently certified with one or more of the following: American Council on Exercise (ACE), Aerobics Fitness Association of America (AFAA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide examples of savvy approaches to effectively resolve conflicts or complaints.
  • Current CPR, AED, and First-Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire).
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Health Promotion, Exercise Science, Sports Management, Community Recreation, or related field.
  • Experience (typically 1-3 years) in performance management including hiring, training, and developing personal trainers within a collegiate fitness & wellness program.
  • Working experience coordinating internship programs.
  • Experience working with fitness education programs.
  • Working experience developing and delivering presentations to groups.
  • Basic knowledge of assessment methods and activities, with the ability to assess, research and review students’ learning outcomes to ensure achievement of objectives and strategies.
