Des Moines Programs Specialist - The School of Social Work
The School of Social Work is seeking a full-time Academic Clinical Program Management Specialist (PCC2)/ Programs Specialist. This position is based at the University of Iowa John Pappajohn Education Center in Des Moines. This position assists the Director, Associate Director, Program Directors, Administrator and Program and Admissions Manager in undergrad/graduate academic programs management; provides academic advising to students; and works collaboratively in the recruiting, admission and retention of undergraduate and graduate students. Though based in Des Moines, this position works collaboratively with all faculty and staff across all the School’s locations and is part of the collective recruitment, admission, enrollment management and advising of all students in the undergraduate and graduate programs (BASW & MSW) offered by the School.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist to support/retain social work students throughout their education program from application stage to graduation which includes maintaining a principal advisor load to social work students.
- Support program directors, faculty and advisors of social work programs.
- Plan and implement student recruitment activities including outreach to prospective students and community organizations (e.g., Recruitment fairs, staffing tables at local conferences, community events/Fairs).
- Assist in identifying recurring problems that may require further study.
- Collaborate with leadership team and recommend revisions to policies and procedures.

Education Required
- Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited institution.
Required Qualifications
- Two years post-MSW social work experience minimum.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and use computer software applications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks adhering to deadlines.
- Experience working in a team-based environment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to meet University of Iowa Fleet Services standards.
Desired Qualifications
- Current license at the Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Independent Social Work (LISW) level.
- Prior work experience in higher education or social work academic programs.
