This position will either be filled as a Dietitian I or Dietitian II (Req: 26001105).

University of Iowa Health Care - Medical Center North Liberty department of Food and Nutrition is seeking a Dietitian I. This position uses nutrition care process to assess, evaluate, and provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for patients in program areas as assigned.  

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides quality patient care including nutrition screening, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and documentation of patient care plan appropriate for patient. 

  • Educates students with on-the-job training. Evaluates students. Provides students with necessary support and assistance to ensure work is completed. 

  • Assesses nutrition status and instructs/counsels patient on appropriate diet. 

  • Participate as part of the medical team concerning problems affecting patients' food habits and needs and participate in health team rounds concerning patient care. 

  • Assist in the implementation of studies and short-term projects. 

  • Performs special projects as assigned. 

  • Participates as active member of departmental/hospital committees. 

  • Review and analyze production, maintenance of standards, costs and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress of work and to control or reduce costs. 

  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public. 

  • Assists other dietitians as needed. 

Schedule: 50%
Hourly: $22.26 to commensurate
Hours: Monday-Friday, 4 hour shifts, preferably in the morning hours

Minimum Eligibility Requirement:

  • A Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Candidates registered prior to January 01, 2024 a Bachelor’s degree in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics is required. 

  • Licensure by the State of Iowa is required. 

  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
