Required Qualifications:

  • Education: ALA-accredited master’s degree in Library and Information Science.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and the ability to articulate the overall steps involved in producing a digital library collection, beginning with the selection of materials, and ending with the launch of a new online resource.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate problems and propose creative solutions through researching independently, empathetic listening, synthesizing options, and forging a path forward toward desired results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based setting where consultation, flexibility, collaboration, and cooperation are essential.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build relationships in complex organizations with grace, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, access and inclusion in an academic environment, in a workplace setting, and/or in the community.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the types of collections typically found in a collegiate research library’s digital library.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the mission of a research university and the mission and functions of a large research library.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Past academic library experience.
  • Prior experience in one or more functional areas often involved in digital library initiatives, including but not necessarily limited to special collections and archives, digitization, metadata, library technical systems, or preservation.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and/or formal training in project management, workflow optimization, or continuous quality improvement.
  • Experience with one or more digital library management systems such as CONTENTdm, Islandora, DSpace, or Omeka.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of standards-based non-MARC metadata schemas such as Dublin Core, Qualified Dublin Core, and MODS.

The hiring salary range for this Specialist Librarian position is $52,500 - $72,000

Successful candidates will be subject to a criminal background check and degree verification. References will be requested from candidates at a later point in the interview process.
