The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for a Director of Athletics Social Media and Digital Strategy. This is a full-time (at-will and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 250 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Director of Athletics Social Media & Digital Strategy is responsible for creating strong social media and digital content that strengthens and protects the brand. Develop creative and innovative ideas that enhance our digital platforms, engage our digital audiences, and foster revenue generating systems. Exercise strong knowledge and proficient use of social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Accurately research, organize and interpret information and analytics. Assist in the coordination and preparation of external relation plans and lead implementation of new digital engagement advancement strategies. This position may also oversee communication strategies for select sport programs. Exhibit sound judgement as it relates to all forms of communication. This position includes direct oversight of full-time employees, full-time interns, and student interns.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. marketing, business, communications, public relations, journalism), or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- At least two years of full-time sports marketing or communications experience;
- Working knowledge of and the ability to:
- Develop and perform specific tasks related to managing a variety of social media accounts
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, through exemplary customer service to all constituents
- Create, manage, and schedule effective social media content
- Experience in supervision and management of full-time and part-time staff to achieve goals and objectives
- Experience with and knowledge of social media scheduling tools and analytic/reporting functions (please specify which softwares experienced in)
- Proficiency in using basic office support and content creation software (such as Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office Suite);
- Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
- Working knowledge of and ability to operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in related field;
- Experience with and knowledge of successful strategies for digital communications and social media content creation and implementation at the NCAA Division I level
- Working knowledge of and ability to:
- Successfully update website content (please specify website providers used)
- Foster an environment of cross-unit collaboration through staff and stakeholder education as it relates to upholding digital brand standards
- A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy standards.
