Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 – 3 years of teaching experience
  • Experience with students with challenging behavior in a school setting or similar work environment
  • Experience teaching social-emotional curriculum
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Special Education Certification/ Endorsement in behavior disorders or a related field such as learning disorder, early child special education, or intellectual disabilities

 

Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid Iowa Teaching Certificate

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education
  • Instructional Strategist Certification
  • Teaching experience in special education
  • Teaching experience at middle and high school level with challenging behaviors
  • Ability to effectively and expeditiously communicate with patient’s local schools to collect information on students’ performance in school and to offer suggestions on how to best support students when they return to their school
