Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Six years of experience in temperature and computerized building environmental automation systems, refrigeration or air conditioning work, including apprenticeship
OR
  • Two years of experience in computerized building environmental automation systems and meets the minimum eligibility requirements of ESM I
AND
  • Has refrigeration certificate of at least type 2
AND
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program.

 

Desired Qualifications:

Prefer certified journeyman HVAC mechanic with 2 years technical school training. Prefer experience with computer skills using MS Excel and MS Word); basic skills in working with BAS (Building Automation System); trouble-shooting pneumatic, electrical or digital building control equipment; experience in trouble-shooting and repair of ice machines, refrigerators, and window A/C units. Prefer basic knowledge of low pressure steam, condensate and how it is used for heating.

Become a member of our Engineering Services team that is changing medicine and changing lives! The Engineering Services Department supports the Mission and Values for the University of Iowa Healthcare System through the management and coordination of the following services:

  • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems, equipment and furnishes;

  • Management of renovation and repair of non-capital projects;

  • Exterior and interior landscape services including snow and ice removal;

  • Maintain interior finishes of campus;

  • Manufactures and installs local signage;

  • Maintains and repairs doors and doors hardware;

  • Management of environmental monitoring of patient and non-patient areas and equipment;

  • Manages and maintains one of the largest pneumatic tube systems in the world.
