Play a critical role in the development of the next generation of physicians by supporting residents, fellows, Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office staff, Program Directors, and Program Coordinators across a broad spectrum of GME administrative activities including the management of GME training and employment records.  Assist the GME Office staff and GME leaders as needed in support of the GME Enterprise.

Responsibilities include:

  • Gain and maintain expertise regarding the MedHub Graduate Medical Education Management system.
  • Serve as the institutional GME MedHub expert and liaison to MedHub Customer Support.
  • Serve as the primary MedHub trainer for GME program personnel. conducting Conduct training sessions for individuals, small and large groups.
  • Advise Program Coordinators and GME staff to Address and problem-solve MedHub issues including scheduling and demographic error reports for trainees, Program Coordinators and Program Directors, and assist Hospital Finance to in assuring appropriate institutional reimbursement.
  • Develop, run, and distribute reports as requested.
  • Support GME Onboarding efforts including background checks, GME contracts, I-9s, etc.
  • Develop and maintain training and employment records for University of Iowa House Staff (residents/fellows).
  • Assist with Leave of Absence requests for House Staff
  • Respond to and problem-solve MedHub issues submitted by trainees, Program Coordinators and Program Directors.
  • Gain and maintain expertise regarding the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
  • Manage activities related to assisting House Staff on J-1 visas with the application and renewal processes.
  • Assist in the annual offboarding of departing house staff annually.
  • Assist with other projects, and events, and other duties/needs as required as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with other Professional and Scientific staff within the GME Office and across University of Iowa Health Care.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of role and responsibility.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or appropriate combination of relevant experience and education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to interpret, apply, and communicate policies, rules, and standards.
  • The ability to track, produce, analyze, and depict quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Commitment to attendance and punctuality

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience training others on work processes.
  • Knowledge of GME and/or the trajectory of physicians through their educational pathways
