Graduate Student Success Advisor
Education Requirement
- A Master’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Required Qualifications
- Experience (typically one to three years) advising graduate students on careers or fellowships.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in context of providing constructive developmental editing and writing feedback; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors at a working proficiency level is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive manner while appreciating the unique contributions of each individual is required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Desired Qualifications
- PhD or postdoc experience or working proficiency with graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in STEM disciplines
- Experience and working proficiency in public speaking and/or teaching.
- Experience with working with international students/scholars.
- Some knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures and regulations is desirable.
