Required Qualifications: 

 

  • A Master’s degree in Chemistry or closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 

  • Minimum of one year of experience with instructional design in a chemistry laboratory setting.  

  • Operational experience with advanced analytical instrumentation used in Chemistry instructional laboratory courses.  

  • Experience in teaching Chemistry.  

  • Knowledge and experience with implementing appropriate safety measures in an instructional Chemistry environment.  

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.  

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse students, staff, and faculty.  

  • Available and responsive to email and phone inquiries outside of normal business hours as required. 

 

Desirable Qualifications: 

 

  • PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field is desired.  

  • Supervisory experience in an instructional laboratory setting.   

  • Working knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures pertaining to FERPA and lab safety; experience developing standard operating procedures for labs based on university requirements.
