Iowa MADE Associate Director
Education Requirement
- Master’s degree in industrial, biomedical or mechanical engineering, business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience with a startup company.
- Comprehensive understanding of developing physical products.
- Proven ability to provide leadership, technology guidance and mentorship to others throughout their domain.
- Demonstrates strong problem solving and analytical skills required to correctly frame and guide critical decisions and ensure delivery of successful projects.
- A self-motivated individual with strong technical and interpersonal skills, eager to learn and provide support and direction to team members in our dynamic organization.
- Experience in managing multiple complex projects and programs with high visibility and impact, as well as monitoring and reporting on their progress.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the capacity to articulate complex technical topics to varying audiences.
- Exceptional abilities in leadership and managing people.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Drive to impact society through commercialization of research.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity with design controls, verification/validation, process validation, sterilization, and other processes to verify medical device production.
- Early-stage medical device development, manufacturing technologies, and methods.
- Experience with project feasibility plans and pricing strategies.
- Experience working in academic environments or directly with faculty.
- Direct medical device startup experience.
